Why I'm Running
I'm running to protect our farmland, defend human rights, and help people afford life in Virginia’s small towns to build prosperity in the Piedmont.
I'm running so people like me can afford to own their homes and businesses in a happy, healthy community.
When I returned to my family home after college to care for my grandma, the community I found in the Piedmont inspired me to build my small business here.
Since then, I've spent my career helping farmers and small businesses succeed, creating thousands of well-paying jobs in rural America and helping keep those farms in the family.
Now, with tariffs and cuts to the federal workforce threatening our livelihoods, it's more important than ever to invest in our communities, businesses, and the next generation.
Join our campaign.
Here's How We'll Do It
Help for Homebuyers
I will fight to provide first-time homebuyers with a $10,000 tax credit t0 purchase a home in a rural area so they can stay and invest in our small towns.
Main Street Prosperity
I will work to give first-time entrepreneurs under 40 a $5,000 tax credit to skip the career track and build a small business in a Virginia town.
Farmland Preservation
I will lead the charge to expand conservation easement funding and to ensure land use decisions like data centers get meaningful local input.
My Story
Early Life in Virginia
I grew up visiting my grandparents in the Piedmont, exploring a love of history while digging up civil war horseshoes and bullets with Grandpa Chilton and his metal detector.
After attending the University of Richmond, I moved to Fauquier to take care of my Grandma Bea in the house she loved so much.
Small-Town Entrepreneur
It was my Grandma Bea's wish to keep the house that's been in the family since 1891, so when she passed I renovated the home to become Chilton House Suites, a small bed & breakfast in Old Town Warrenton.
Since opening in 2017, we've introduced over 10,000 people to the Piedmont and generated tens of thousands in revenue for local businesses, wedding venues, and town coffers.
Building Rural Prosperity During The Pandemic
As so many of us remember, the pandemic was a brutal time for small businesses. When lockdown forced my B&B to close, I accepted the chairmanship of a local economic development group. There, I raised tens of thousands of dollars for local restaurants and small businesses to help re-open old town.
I also joined the Loudoun Medical Reserve Corps. Every weekend, I joined hundreds of volunteers to help protect our towns from the COVID-19 virus.
Serving Virginians in Richmond
I spent three years in the House of Delegates as Chief of Staff to Del. David Reid of Ashburn. Together we:
- Expanded health insurance access for 400,000 Virginians;
- Guaranteed full-day pre-kindergarten education in Loudoun County;
- Froze tuition for public higher education institutions for 3 years;
- Joined the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative and wrote the Virginia Energy Plan transitioning Virginia off of fossil fuels by 2050;
That's what we can do when Democrats win in Virginia, and that's what we will build on in 2025.
Clean Energy Advocate & Farmland Preservationist
I joined the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development team in 2022. There, I helped over 12,000 small businesses and farmers save billions and generate new revenue from renewable energy projects. My work created over 10,000 jobs and spent over $2 billion in rural America. These efforts helped keep farms in the family and reduced development and sprawl.
In 2023, I joined President Biden's Office of Clean Energy Innovation and Implementation. My team and I managed the $140+ Billion in clean energy and conservation in the largest climate investment in American history, the Inflation Reduction Act.
